How to make easy quick paratha recipe

Estimated read time 3 min read

When I was young my mother would make paratha. It was always really good when fresh. Half the fun was watching her make the dough, roll the dough out and assemble the paratha and then fry it. Some of us liked them lightly fried and others fried crispy. I liked the crispy on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside paratha. I was quite surprised with her easy quick paratha recipe from Bangladesh with only 3 ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 3 c flour
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Mix flour and oil together.
  2. Add water, 1 tbsp at a time until dough forms.
  3. Roll out on counter.
  4. Cut into round ball slightly larger than a golf ball.
  5. Roll out with a rolling pin into a circle to about the size of a dinner plate.
  6. Spread some oil on flattened dough.
  7. Sprinkle flour over oil.
  8. Fold flattened dough into four to make an envelope shape.
  9. Roll out to dinner plate size again.
  10. Repeat steps 6 – 9 at least one more time.
  11. Heat oil or butter in a frying pan.
  12. Put flattened oil and flour filled dough into hot frying pan.
  13. Fry until golden brown, flip and fry second side until golden brown.
  14. Serve.

Notes for easy quick paratha recipe

  • The more times you go through steps 6-9, the flakier the paratha.
  • The closer your spread oil and flour to the edges of the rolled out dough, the flakier the paratha.
  • You can add other things to the layers. For example, mashed potato, cheese, onions, chives anything really.
